Friday, January 3rd, 2014Knowing of my keen interest in The Asylum’s work in the shark genre in general, and the forthcoming Mega Shark vs. Mecha Shark in specific, SF Signal’s John DeNardo arranged for me to interview the writer of that film, Jose Prendes.
Now the interview has been published. Not only did Prendes write Mega Shark vs. Mecha Shark, he also wrote the novel (I kid you not) Sharcano.
For some unfathomable reason, Amazon doesn’t seem to have it for pre-prder yet, but you can find more information from the publisher here. There’s also a Facebook page.
Peter O’Toole, RIP: 1932-2013
Sunday, December 15th, 2013Acting legend Peter O’Toole has died at age 81. One of the greats, and one of my personal favorite actors, not only from Lawrence of Arabia, but as The Stunt Man, Lord Jim, The Lion in Winter, Beckett, My Favorite Year, and even his great, weird, twitchy turn in The Ruling Class.
Since everyone else in the world will have clips from Lawrence of Arabia, here’s an entire play O’Toole was in, Jeffrey Bernard is Unwell, in which he plays a very talkative drunk writer (or perhaps a writing drunkard).

The Complete Monty Python Reunion Press Conference

Maybe You Shouldn’t Read This Post If You’re Depressed

I was looking for some scary gifs when I came across this. There are a few in the, but it seems to be mostly depressing black and white gifs for suicidal teenage girls.

Interestingly enough, more than half seem to be of stunningly beautiful actresses from popular culture. And, naturally, there’s a lot of Nine Inch Nails references.

Interesting Interview With Gene Wilder
Tuesday, September 3rd, 2013It’s the day after Worldcon, and I’m more than a little toasty, so expect slow blogging while I get up to speed.
So here’s a long interview with Gene Wilder about his career, working with Richard Pryor, Mel Brooks, Gilda Radner, etc. Wilder has reached the stage in his life where he speaks slowly and carefully, but always cognizantly, and it’s an interesting interview. I suspect that if it were not the day after Worldcon, I’d find it a little slow, but right now slow is just fine.
