When in doubt, post a Slowdive cover…
This is a pleasant enough dreampop song, but I’m posting it hear mainly because of how perfectly it mimics a certain strain of pop music circa 1984-85. You could slip this right between the Psychedelic Furs and Echo and the Bunnymen…
The Capsules are another band in the Saint Marie Records stable:
Been a while since I did some Pastel Blue, so here’s “See Saw Song.”
Been a few years since I put up an Air Formation track, so here’s “A.M.” from their new album Near Miss.
Been a while since I did a Sunday Shoegazer. I’ve been busy.
Operating out of Guadalajara, Mexico, Lorelle Meets the Obsolete hits a sweetspot between shoegaze, slowcore and psychadelic, sounding a little bit like a heavier Mazzy Star. “Waves Over Shadows” is off Balance.
Been a while since I put up any SPC ECO. I could have sworn I already posted “Zombie,” but I’m not seeing it anywhere.
Slowdive put on a great show at Stubb’s on April 28. One of the surprising things about it was how much of a rocker “No Longer Making Time” is live. There doesn’t appear to be a good video of that available online, so here’s a pretty good version from their Asheville, NC on November 17, 2017.
Note: There’s a little glitch at the end, where it looks like the person recording the video forgot there’s a little coda at the end of the song and turned their cell phone video off for a few seconds…
In celebration of Slowdive playing Austin next week, here’s a four song live set including:
The Sunday dose of Shoegaze got put aside while I was doing my taxes, but now that’s done, I hope to catch up on a few things.
