  • Netflix Reveals MST3K Turkey Day “Gauntlet”

    Monday, November 12th, 2018

The cat is now officially out of the bag:

  • Mac and Me
  • Atlantic Rim
  • Lords of the Deep
  • The Day Time Ended
  • Killer Fish
  • ATOR The Fighting Eagle
  • Quick thoughts:

    1. Going to be an awfully wet season.
    2. Since the Joel era already did Cave Dwellers, does that make ATOR the first movie they’re riffed twice? Edited to add: People on Facebook are telling me that Cave Dwellers is actually the second Ator movie, not the first.
    3. Jonah should go on Conan, promise to show a clip from them riffing Atlantic Rim…and then it be a clip of them riffing the wheelchair falling scene from Mac and Me…

    MST3K Film Candidate: The Wraith

    Saturday, February 3rd, 2018

How was I unaware of this film until now?

Not only is it Knightrider meets supernatural revenge fantasy, it’s so 80s it hurts.

    Thursday, June 1st, 2017

Our long wait is now over: Sharknado 5 now has it’s official subtitle: Global Swarming.

    Tagline: Make America Bait Again.

  • Kickstarter for the Sequel to Manos: The Hands of Fate

    Thursday, February 25th, 2016

I know that many of you (and by “many” I mean “five or six of you”) come here for news of Manos: The Hands of Fate). (And yes, I have the restored Blu-Ray of the original Manos, but I haven’t watched it yet.) So here’s some news about the sequel:

The previously announced sequel, The Search for Valley Lodge, officially died back in 2014.

However, and entirely new sequel is being put together by Jackey Neyman Jones (the little girl in the original film) and their Kickstarter just made it’s $24,000 goal. They even have Tom Neyman back as The Master!

If you think there’s too much puppet action (from Manos: The Hands of Felt) in the Kickstarter trailer, here’s a shorter trailer:

$24,000 isn’t much for a feature film. Then again, the original Manos: The Hands of Fate wasn’t much of a feature film…

Bring Back MST3K Biggest Video Kickstarter Ever

    Saturday, December 12th, 2015

The final fundraising tally was $5,764,229, plus $600,000 in “add-ons.”

Bring Back MST3K “became the most successful crowdfunded video project of all time, surpassing the Veronica Mars movie, which previously held the title with $5.7 million.”

Joel Hodgson and his team did a masterful job generating momentum over the course of the kickstarter (Felicia Day! Jerry Seinfeld!). Now they’re going to make 14 new episodes, which wasn’t even a stretch goal when the started out.

Now all we have to do is wait until November 2016…

    MST3K Kickstarter Hits $5.5 Million/12 Episodes

    Friday, December 11th, 2015

It looks like I need not have worried. The Bring Back Mystery Science Theater 3000 Kickstarter has shattered the $5.5 million/12 episode barrier with less than an hour to go. The numbers keep flipping, but it was $5,697,311 when I checked just now. Add on the $425,000 add on funds, and it looks like they’ll do 13 episodes this season.

And they still have 45 minutes to go…
