Library Addition: Thomas Ligotti’s Pictures of Apocalypse

Wednesday, July 5th, 2023

Another small press book:

Ligotti, Thomas. Pictures of Apocalypse. Chiroptera Press, 2023. First edition hardback, a Fine copy in a Fine dust jacket, still in shrinkwrap. Also includes a special 24 page Pictures of Apocalypse: Interviews and Sketches chapbook, including new interviews with the author and artist, “Concept to finish” art documentation, outtakes, a thank you card, and a bookmark.” A verse cycle. A fairly elaborate small press production for this stylish horror writer. The book is no longer on the publisher’s website, so I assume it is now out of print. But I still have copies through Lame Excuse Books (including the extras bag).

Here’s a scan of some of the items in the extras bag:

Library Addition: Thomas Ligotti’s Death Poems

Saturday, August 21st, 2021

This came in a while back, but I waited until after I listed the books in the just released Lame Excuse Books catalog before listing it here.

Ligotti, Thomas. Death Poems. Bad Moon Books, 2013. First edition hardback thus, #50 of 300 signed, numbered copies, a Fine copy in a Fine dust jacket. There was an earlier edition of this from Dutro Press, but this edition is expanded with additional material. Bought off eBay for $75.

Maybe I should have added those crazy small run Ligotti books I lack to the books wanted list…

Library Addition: Thomas Ligotti’s A Little White Book of Screams and Whispers

Wednesday, June 12th, 2019

Bought this from the publisher at the usual discount:

Ligotti, Thomas. A Little White Book of Screams and Whispers. Borderlands Press, 2019. First edition hardback, a #501 of 600 signed, numbered copies, a Fine copy, sans dust jacket, as issued. A “compilation of Interviews with Ligotti that have never been collected or reprinted.” Out of print before publication.

The shadow on the spine is a scanner artifact.

Library Additions: Thomas Ligotti’s The Agonizing Death of Victor Frankenstein

Tuesday, March 19th, 2013

Another interesting library addition:

Ligotti, Thomas. The Agonizing Resurrection of Victor Frankenstein & Other Gothic Tales. Silver Salamander Press, 1994. First edition hardback, number 116 of 125 hardback copies, a Fine copy in a Fine dust jacket, with small black and white art plate laid in. Bought for $200, marked down from $400, from the Half Price Books on 183 with their 50% off coupon (I showed up when the door opened). Probably the rarest Ligotti hardback. (Evidently the hardback state of The Silver Scarab Press edition of Songs From a Dead Dreamer is spurious; proof yet again you can’t completely trust Chalker & Ownings.)
