Just when you thought it was safe to surf the Internet, it’s another Downfall parody. (Not safe for work.) At least the creator did a bit more editing than usual. (Blame Mike. He sent it to me.)
I can only imagine Ellison’s reaction: “Ray Bradbury gets hot young women that want to screw him, and I get Hitler? What the hell is wrong with the Internet?”
Consider this your yearly warning not to try driving your car on icy hills. Unless you like playing a really expensive and dangerous version of bumper-cars…
Note: Not my videos, so I’m not responsible for musical choices, commentary, etc.
Bonus: City bus.
You might really want to consider slowing down in this weather. I said slow down! Never mind…
I’m not sure if “bailing out” is the right move here.
I’m pretty sure it’s not the optimal solution here:
And speaking of cheesy movies about oceanic killing machines, they’ve made another film version of Moby Dick, only instead of a 19th century whaling ship, it’s a 21st century nuclear sub. Barry Bostwick plays Ahab. (Brad’s had a pretty good career in Hollywood, all things considered.) A trailer indicates it’s every bit as good as you would expect:
Wow, that may actually eclipse Pinocchio in Outer Space as the worst adaptation of Moby Dick ever.
And now for another episode of whoring for dollars!
Actually, I seldom promote any products beyond book and DVD links on this blog, but The Complete Monty Python’s Flying Circus 16 Ton Megaset (which gets you all the TV episodes and two live shows) for $34.99 strikes me as a good enough deal that I’m going to order one for myself.
Ever now and then you stumble across something that, given your general tastes and outlook, you shouldn’t like, but you do anyway. “What, you like that?” asks your friends. “That is so not you.”
Take Mocca’s “I Would Never” as an example, a simple, charming pop song done in an easy-listening style that went out of fashion at least 40 years ago. I chanced across this a few years ago searching for something else, and every now and then get a yen to hear it again, which then necessitates trying to remember the name of the artist. And then I find it again, only to discover that, yes, it’s still not on iTunes.
So I’m embedding the video here as much as a blog sticky note to myself as sharing it with others…
Mocca seems to be a Indonesian pop band which has done several albums of material in this style: Poppy, upbeat, cheerful, and deeply un-ironic, which must be a crushing disappointment to jaded hipsters everywhere. It’s just well-done and…pleasant.
